the speaker said /hi: ?ɪz / instead of /hi:z/. She said /hi: / stopped, and then said /ɪz/. However, this does not work with English spoken, “he” as it ends with a vowel, and “is” as it starts with a vowel should be connected together. Therefore, in order to connect between them, there is a need of use a glottal stop. How can the speaker use it? She first needs to stop the airflow in her throat, then try to hold her breathe with her throat muscles, and then release the air by relaxing the throat muscles .
